The school year has begun, and every school in Gillespie County has opened in-person! It seems that our state has finally begun the long trek back to normalcy. However,  rumors have been circulating of a new strain of COVID-19 called the Delta variant. What is this new strain, and should we be worried? The CDC says that variant is 2x more contagious, on average causes more severe illness than previous variations of COVID-19, and even people who are fully vaccinated can be infected and spread the virus. The cases have been especially high within the public schools, but they will be temporarily going online within the next few weeks, and this should help curb the spread among the youth. This all sounds kind of scary, I know. But if we all continue (and get even more diligent) with our good habits of wearing masks, washing our hands, and social distancing, we should get through this together as a community soon enough.

God bless everyone, and stay safe!
